What is a Doula:

A Doula (also known as a birth companion, birth coach or post-birth supporter) is a trained and experienced non-medical person who assists a woman before, during, or after childbirth to provide continuous informational, emotional. and physical support. They also may provide support to the mother's partner and family. The goal of a Doula is to help women and their families achieve the childbirth experience they envision.

About Me:

My name is Elizabeth Voss.

I am a Certified Birth Doula, Birth and Breastfeeding Educator, and a Certified Lactation Counselor. I have been in practice here in Northwestern Michigan for 6 years. I have helped countless mothers and babies through their birthing journeys and beyond. I specialize in Color Therapy and Aromatherapy to enhance your birthing space; as well as positioning (Spinning Babies Certified) and comfort techniques to support your birth goals.

As a CLC I also can help you achieve your breastfeeding goals with support immediately following the birth of your baby; as well as on- going support through in- home or in office lactation visits and through the TCLC Breastfeeding Support Group.

All education is done in-person. I offer private and group classes.  All group classes are taught in office.

Serving all birthing and breastfeeding people in Grand Traverse, Charlevoix, Antrim, Leelanau, Benzie, Kalkaska, Manistee, Wexford, and Missaukee Counties.

"I will protect your space. I will wipe sweat from your face. I will dance and sway with you. I will help you breathe and find your strength when you feel you have none left. I'll stand by your side no matter what and when you feel scared squeeze my hand tighter. I am a Birth Doula. We will Birth your way."

What our customers are saying

Traverse City Lactation Company gets my highest praise and recommendation. While pregnant, Elizabeth trained me through guided imagery, aromatherapy, and massage to be able to get into a completely relaxed state. This was amazing to be able to relax during the late stages of uncomfortable pregnancy but also essential for being able to access this state during labor. Elizabeth knew exactly how to identify problems before they even entered my awareness and found immediate solutions for pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum. My husband and I felt completely safe and relaxed knowing she was there to guide us through this process. She is incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, and person-centered. She provided information and allowed us to come to our own decisions that are best for our family with no judgement. She included my daughter in the education process and took time to answer all of our questions. One of my favorite parts is that she really takes the time to honor you as a pregnant and new mother. She takes the time to check in with how you are doing when a lot of everyone else’s focus is on your new baby. I am so grateful to TCLC for helping me have such an amazing pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience that my husband and I will never, ever forget!
